Global Network Accelerator (GNA) leverages our globally-distributed endpoint-aware application delivery service to erase network bottlenecks caused by distance and congestion. It provides acceleration from the backend web server all the way to the users’ devices — tablets, phablets, smartphones, laptops, and desktops alike.

How GNA works

Global Network Accelerator moves the server/browser connection setup process as close as possible to the end user to allow for instant connections, and then speeds the data transfer over a high-bandwidth multiplexed delivery channel that is already pre-established across the Instart Logic service, using a new protocol invented by Instart Logic.

Instart Logic has also created fast TCP recovery algorithms which ensure that moment-to-moment changes in last mile wireless network quality do not impact users’ web experiences. With conventional approaches, even momentarily adverse network conditions can ramp connectivity way down, forcing the end user to wait for a long recovery process.

First Mile: It starts with the backend web servers

Global Network Accelerator starts by maintaining persistent high-velocity connections into backend web servers using a combination of aggressive TCP, HTTP, and HTTPS optimizations and protocol keep-alives. This ensures our service can efficiently source dynamic elements of your web site or application without any connection setup and ramping overhead.

Middle Mile: A multiplexed matrix of fast connections with IPTP (Inter Proxy Transfer Protocol)

Traditional web delivery systems play simple tricks with HTTP and HTTPS over the middle mile of the Internet. By contrast, once dynamic assets enter the Instart Logic network, they are carried across the middle mile on a new purpose-built binary protocol invented specifically for inter-proxy transmissions. It was invented by Instart Logic researchers and engineers to overcome the inefficiencies of TCP, HTTP, and HTTPS over global distances. Global Network Accelerator does this by setting up a persistent matrix of ramped-up IPTP connections between Instart Logic serving locations, and then efficiently framing and multiplexing dynamic transfers through it.

Not only is IPTP built for maximum efficiency and low overhead, but it will also allow for future expandability. It is designed to allow for accelerating emerging protocols such as SPDY, WebSockets, and WebRTC in the future across the middle mile of the Instart Logic service.

Last Mile: Network optimization built for the wireless world

The last mile in the delivery path has changed dramatically from the era when protocols like TCP, HTTP, and HTTPS were created. The rapid transition over the last few years from wired access to wireless over WiFi, 3G, and 4G technologies on the last mile brought high latency, heavy congestion, and variable bandwidth conditions. To overcome these wireless network challenges, Instart Logic has optimally tuned its last mile TCP, HTTP, and HTTPS networking stacks to cut through these bottlenecks and quickly recover from the momentary packet loss and heavy congestion that mark these wireless networks.
