Thank You, Gartner, for Naming Instart Logic a Cool Vendor
Our number one mission is to make our customers faster and help them gain a competitive advantage in their Web-based business. Heating up their web performance is what we do, day in and day out. Today, we’re taking a moment to celebrate an important milestone--one that we feel helps confirm Instart Logic as a “hot” technology company: Gartner has recognized us as a Cool Vendor.
I am truly excited for our team of hard-working innovators and technologists that Gartner named Instart Logic among the 2014 Cool Vendors in Web Computing in a report published on April 24, 2014. The report, from analysts Ray Valdes, Gene Phifer, David Mitchell Smith, Jim Murphy, Magnus Revang, and Brian Prentice, says:
"These Cool Vendors in Web computing are implementing new technology and frameworks to improve the user experience as well as the Web developer experience."
It's an understatement to say we are thrilled to be the only performance acceleration Gartner Cool Vendor named in the in the report.

What Gartner Cool Vendor means to you
Gartner each year puts tremendous effort into identifying new emerging companies with innovative, disruptive, and highly unique technologies.
According to Gartner, its definition of a Cool Vendor * is: “a small company offering a technology or service that is:
- Innovative — it enables users to do things they couldn't do before.
- Impactful — it has or will have a business impact; it's not just a matter of 'technology for its own sake.'
- Intriguing — it has caught our interest or curiosity during the past six months or so."

The above report states that since 2004, Gartner has profiled over 2,200 Cool Vendors. Many became significant disruptors and have reshaped the landscape of information technology.
Big Change is Cool
Each year, Gartner identifies an overarching theme to the Cool Vendors chosen. For 2014, the report named just above makes the point that major, disruptive, ongoing change is the new normal in many industries.
For example, we are part of Big Change as the Web and ecommerce become much more centered on visual engagement, and increasingly accessed from mobile devices. We expect the Web of 2016 to look and behave differently than the Web of 2011. Here is what’s interesting about Cool Vendors:
1. Staying Power
Looking at the lists of Gartner Cool Vendor from prior years, it’s apparent that a remarkably high percentage of them are still in operation today, either independently or as part of a company that acquired them. Considering most were selected while still startups with new, unfamiliar technologies, we believe that is a testimony to Gartner’s outstanding ability to pick long-term winners.
2. Filtering hype
Gartner filters out the hype and identifies the innovative technologies that we believe will make legacy approaches obsolete. There are always new technology approaches with marketing claims that sound too good to be true. Which companies are truly disrupting existing approaches and which are incremental? Gartner we feel helps answer that question.
3. Competitive advantage
Cool Vendor selections bring intriguing new technologies to the attention of companies. They can then evaluate in depth, and if they see a fit, they may well use this new capability to build a competitive advantage in their marketplace. That’s what our customer base &emdash; up 500% in the past year &emdash; has done with our application delivery technology. A significant portion have leapfrogged past competitors with fast response times, reduced bounce rates, and dramatically higher conversions.
We think Instart Logic is hot
We see Gartner’s recognition of Instart Logic as a validation that a radical new software-based approach like ours can leapfrog past CDNs, and deliver dramatic performance gains quickly, we’re even more pleased that many of the world’s most performance-obsessed companies trust their mission-critical web traffic to Instart Logic.
